Founded in 1963 by Jean Rohou, CIREFE at the University of Rennes 2 is Brittany's largest university centre for teaching French as a foreign language (FLE).
Every year, it welcomes hundreds of students from over a hundred different countries. This diversity constitutes a valuable intercultural asset.
Located in the heart of the Rennes 2 University campus, CIREFE enables international students to live alongside French students, attend classes in the university's departments, participate in campus social and cultural life, and enjoy a special cultural programme.
CIREFE is a member of ADCUEFE – Campus FLE, an association that brings together nearly 40 French university centres for foreign students. In 2008, it was awarded the French government's Qualité FLE label, which was renewed for the fourth time in November 2021.
